Great score. Good luck on some dates, but at that price, who cares.

Re: bought 600 morgans today for 3500.00 fiat
You are a dumb farmer!! You traded $3500.00 worth of cold, hard cash money, greenbacks, FRNs for old coins that aren't even minted anymore!!!! What the hell's wrong with you.
$3500??!! That's worth at least $2800 in China right now!!!!  |
Re: bought 600 morgans today for 3500.00 fiat
I wish my neighbors would take advantage of me like that.

Why you little :bandit: Oh! and did you check your shoes? Looks like you stepped into something :haha: Seriously KUDOS for being at the right spot when opportunity knocked. Was your neighbor a coin collector? What else is in the estate? I'd seriously do a little more shopping there!

Re: bought 600 morgans today for 3500.00 fiat

Ok, Barnum said there's a sucker born every minute. I will not be a sucker like you were. I'll tell you what, I'll give you $700 in FRN's for those coins worth only $600 face, not a penny more!! That's my final offer.

Re: bought 600 morgans today for 3500.00 fiat
:D Cool....where do you live and where is the secret map to your backyard ?
Lucky...lucky...lucky. Your story reminded me of something...sorta sad and off topic. A neighbor of a good friend of mine died a few years back and left all her worldly goods to her daughter. I needed a refrigerator for a rental property and went over to buy the kitchen appliances for a fair market price. Didn't need anything but the fridge...but I was willing to buy all the appliances to help the daughter out with her mother's funeral expenses and loose ends. These were semi rich people who just saw the lady's death as a relief...not a tragedy. I offered her $200.00 for the refrigerator ( it was worth much less) and the daughter asked if I wanted everything the deceased lady had owned. I said no...she said...give me $300.00 dollars and you can take it all...I mean everything...the place was immaculate and the furniture was expensive high grade top shelf, not junk. Washer, dryer, range, refrigerator, dozens of small appliances, furniture,I mean everything...even all the clothes. The daughter didn't even bother opening a single drawer or looking for pictures to keep...made me feel like a burglar. All she wanted was for me to strip the place down to the floor so she didn't have to touch anything or be bothered with selling anything. I said OK...she handed me the key and told me to lock up after I left. End of story... I thought the entire situation was a sad affair to put it mildly. But,that's the way some estates are settled. Yeah...all in all the entire estate was probably worth about 10K...I even found 2K in FRNs in a drawer stuffed under some old socks. The daughter lived in another state and was nowhere to be found...I tried. Moral ? Some people just don't care...no matter what something is actually worth...so you're not taking advantage of them...it's their call. :Sorry: :Sorry: |

Fiat - Actually, when I read this thread I thought the same thing before you posted - I guess the difference was that this girl didn't even seem to CARE like she didn't need money........and in your case it SOUNDED like it was some poor, starving, old lady.........but I wondered at the time why they jumped all over you for that! Maybe its you picture! |
Re: bought 600 morgans today for 3500.00 fiat
I don't think I got on your case in that thread Fiat, but I harbored some jealous feelings from your great deal also.
One day I'm gonna get a better deal than both you guys, even if it means scamming an old lady. |
Re: bought 600 morgans today for 3500.00 fiat
Damn good deal - and I was reveling my $4 per oz. Sterling silver........
Though, my purchases are much smaller and lower amounts....that's a haul....that's a find of the Decade ! :applause_ CONGRATS :adore: |
Re: bought 600 morgans today for 3500.00 fiat
I think we can all learn a lesson here. If we're leaving something to our kids, teach them as to what they're getting.
I'm sure we'd all hate to see our kids do what these one's did. |

I thought your transaction was fair to both parties. I am not sure of the circumstances on RickW's transaction. If they offered the coins at $3500 he got a great deal. If he offered less than 6x face for the coins I would be concerned about karma. 65GT350 |
Re: bought 600 morgans today for 3500.00 fiat
The missing American Silver Dollar.
In 1964, the Denver Mint struck 316,076 Peace Dollars but, before they were released into circulation, all of the coins were destroyed. A few may have been purchased or "taken" by Mint employees and rumors persist of this coin's existence. However, for fear of confiscation by Treasury officials, none have yet appeared on the market. Were it legal to own, the 1964-D Peace Dollar would become one of the most valuable of all United States coins. Sources and/or recommended reading: "Walter Breen's Complete Encyclopedia of U.S. and Colonial Coins" by Walter Breen The adoption of the UCC and international contracual law insured that the Fed/Treasury would destroy those coins. - Halo |

As far as I'm concerned there was nothing wrong with your deal. Not like you stole it. Not your responsibility to educate anyone in the midst of a transaction. |

Re: bought 600 morgans today for 3500.00 fiat
are morgan 1oz silver? sorry i'm an aussie
had to look into had found a site that sells them at $57each (cheapest) maybe thats at mint condition. how much are they worth? |

At $13.60 silver, the silver content of each Morgan is about $10.50 (someone please correct me if I am wrong). However, they very rarely sell for strict silver content value...usually they are priced several dollars higher apiece. RickW paid roughly half price for them (with silver where it is now), so he got a very good deal. |
